VRL offers civilian reintegration services for severely disabled American soldiers. To accomplish these objectives, VRL partners with fellow nonprofits to develop joint humanitarian projects, which are divided into phases. Partners are matched with the phase their organization is best suited to accomplish:

VETERAN PROJECT CATEGORIES:

1. Provide housing for disabled American vets through development and participation of fundraising events established to pay for the cost of construction.

2. Offer mediation services for military families struggling with the emotional issues returning vets face. This service is provided by fellow vets trained in mediation.

3. Provide administrative services for veterans fighting to receive VA healthcare and GI–Bill educational benefits.

I was staying in city shelter that was harming my health and service connected disability. When I was in dire need of a safe place to sleep for the night, this agency welcomed me and worked hard to help me get placed somewhere safer. The night volunteer went as far as making a run to the store for over the counter medicine to further relieve my situation and had breakfast for me upon waking. Another fellow veteran volunteer drove me to the VA that morning to navigate resources given to me and later that day I was accepted into veteran housing. I am humbled by and grateful for this organization who made asking for help easy while also empowering me to do the next best thing for myself. Thank you, Veterans Rebuilding Life, for reminding me I’m not alone and helping me keep safe and off the streets that night.

I spent veterans day volunteering with this amazing group of vets, first responders, pastors, and students, to help Afghan War refugees move into new homes. In-spite of all the darkness days ahead, it's good to know that there are still good people out there, doing God's work.

VRL has gone above and beyond in assisting me personally. After only my first time volunteering with the organization, VRL consistently reached out to me to make sure that myself and my family were ok in times of hardship. Their reasoning was that anyone who has given to the organization and the mission are forever members of the VRL family. Overall, VRL is by the far the most forthright, devoted, and sincerely passionate organization that I have ever had the pleasure of volunteering with. Whether you are a veteran in need of direct assistance, a military family member looking for support, or a community member hoping to make a meaningful difference, VRL will empower you, treat you as family, and always welcome you home.

As a mental health clinician with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, I've come to rely on Veterans Rebuilding Life, as a trusted resource for veteran services. Highly recommended!

I never heard of Veterans Rebuilding Life, until the day I needed help. If you survived the NYC pandemic, then you know how little help was available. Politicians abandoned their posts, and there wasn't a charity in-sight. With no PPE, 1st-responders resorted to using duct-tape and plastic bags to protect themselves on the frontline. That's when a vehicle marked: "Veterans Rebuilding Life" drove up, and started handing-out boxes of N95 masks, latex gloves, and hand sanitizers. What did they ask for in return? NOTHING. Without Veterans Rebuilding Life, many of us would not be here today.

Even though I had moved out of state, VRL still helped me. Even though I wasn't able to travel outside of my home. They still helped me. Somehow, VRL spoke to different groups in my area to get me the services I needed. Tell me, what VSO does that? You always hear about the reason that someone can't do something. VRL didn't give me excuses. They told me they would figure it out and then they did. Plain and simple. Thank you for keeping your promises. Thank you for everything.

Veterans Rebuilding Life helped my uncle, a USMC Vietnam Veteran, when no one else would. When my uncle was injured, VRL sent staff to visit him in the hospital, bought him clothes to wear while he was in the rehab facility before we could get there, and even help us with all of the legal paperwork involved with being able to care for him. They found us a notary and helped us plan for my uncle's future. They listened and were honest with us about the outlook of things. But, more important than anything else, VRL actually did something. Without them, we would have been completely lost. I cannot recommend VRL enough.

Veterans Rebuilding Life helped my daughter in so many ways... I cannot tell you how grateful I am for the service that they have provided to her and to us as a family. When my daughter was struggling with depression, VRL helped her get the services that she needed and supported her through the entire process. They helped find her work, housing, and connected her with other veterans that were able to become almost like family to her. She now has a sense of purpose again and I am so happy that she is still with us. Thank you VRL!

Support this highly recommended, local nonprofit that's run by volunteer veterans in NYC. VRL provides a variety of humanitarian and social services at no-cost to the veteran community of NY. Check out their site more info: vrlnyc.org

Veterans Rebuilding Life picks up where the VA, and other veteran-groups leave off. Staffed by volunteers vets, this nonprofit specializes in offering direct-aid to vets who are fed up the endless paperwork, waiting lines, and overall bullshi* they endure when just asking for help. Now that i'm back on my feet, I've become a proud volunteer supporter of Veterans Rebuilding Life.

Not sure why I couldn't give a 5-STAR rating, which is what Veterans Rebuilding Life deserves! They are the only veterans nonprofit organization I trust.

VRL provides the effective peer-to-peer mentorship services, that only a small, grassroots organization can! Veterans Rebuilding Life has maintained an impeccable record of integrity to the mission and those who support it. In a time when there is so much corruption in the nonprofit world, VRL stands alone.

Veterans Rebuilding Life is the only nonprofit organization run exclusively by veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. VRL provides vets in-need with immediate solutions, and assists them in developing long-term goals. After receiving the help I needed to get back on my feet, I am now a proud VRL volunteer, helping the next vet coming through the door. Highly recommended to all Vets seeking help or wishing to volunteer!

Volunteering at Veterans Rebuilding Life was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Their unique strategy of helping vets with PTSD to heal by having them help wounded children, really works. Witnessing the emotional transition of the vet during the process, is a powerful and moving experience. As a volunteer, I felt appreciated every step of the way. I was included in meetings and always asked for my input. VRL maintains a level of organization and efficiency that ensures their projects run smoothly. Their staffs passion is inspiring and contagious. I look forward to volunteering with VRL again and recommend anyone who really wants to make a positive impact to join me!
